Ribe Camping is only 1,5 km from the town centre and idyllically situated next to the National Park "Wadden Sea"
Unique atmosphere
With its outstanding status as Denmark's oldest and best-preserved town, Ribe offers you a unique atmosphere. There are very few places in Denmark where you can see an entire medieval town centre with old half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets.
Details make Ribe unique
Stroll down the streets of Ribe and each corner you turn offers delightful sights: your eye catches a surprising glimpse of the flat marsh meadows, houses feature beautifully carved woodwork, artistically decorated doors – and at the end of the pedestrian street, the Cathedral - Ribe Domkirke - stands majestically.
Year round
Ribe is a town very much alive with a strong sense of its medieval history and Viking past, which lie buried beneath the cobblestone streets. During the summer, the town square, vibrant with the luminous colours of the Scandinavian sky, has a Southern European atmosphere. During the winter, cosy is the buzzword: Peter’s Christmas in Ribe, indoor cafés with candles on the tables and hot chocolate on the menu. Year round, Ribe offers a host of activities for the young and the young at heart. Visit one of the many activity centres or take a trip to the Wadden Sea. When the tide is low, you can even walk across the Wadden Sea tidal flats to Mandø Island. There is amble opportunity for shopping and when you want to take a break, there are numerous indoors and, in the summer, outdoor cafes, where you can gaze at the old harbour or sit in peaceful contemplation.

Oh, Night Watchman, the clock has struck 10:00…
Follow the night watchman, every evening during the summer months (May 1- Sept. 15) when he walks his traditional route through the ancient streets. Listen to him sing the watchman song and listen to his tale about Ribe’s dramatic story and the many sights it has to offer along the way. The tour is free of charge.
Ribe Cathedral
One of Europe’s most beautiful churches and Ribe town’s undisputed landmark. Consider the challenge of walking up the 248 steps of the 52 metre high Commoners’ Tower – the children will love it. From there, you will have a magnificent view of the distinctive red tile roofs, the marshland to the West and the low-lying meadows to the East. On a clear day, you can also see the three Wadden Sea Islands: Fanø, Mandø and Rømø. During the eighties, Carl Henning Pedersen designed and decorated the famous stained glass windows in the chancel.

The Museum Ribe’s Vikings
Here you can experience Ribe as it was during the Viking Age and the Middle Ages – once hidden under streets of Ribe. The museum has thousands of artefacts and a full size reconstruction of a Viking market place, where you can see, smell and feel what everyday life was like in the year 800. In the playroom "Rolf and Kristine" you can experience life in the Middle Ages up close and in surprising ways: try on a chain mail, feel how heavy it is and imagine life as a Ribe Viking. A wealth of fun and educational exhibitions for the whole family – year round.
